Teaching Practice
Lorna considers her education work to be a large part of her creative practice. She has designed and facilitated art engagement projects with many organisations including National Galleries Scotland, Jupiter+, The Dick Institute, Starcatchers, Women’s Aid, Children 1st, GFT and others. She is currently one of the Creative Connections artists-in-residence with The Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh.

Lorna recently completed a Masters in Education (Teaching the Arts) at the the Royal Conservatoire Scotland where her research centred on how children understand and engage with artworks; in particular, experimental animation.

Lorna is a qualified primary school teacher with over seven years of experience in the classroom. She has received Professional Recognition for expertise in the arts. Lorna also runs and teaches art and design classes for all ages at Menagerie Art Classes

Lorna has completed the advanced practicum training for the Visual Thinking Strategies; an enquiry based method for facilitating discussions about artworks with early stage viewers of art.

She has also been involved in leading training events, including a practical CPD workshop for primary teachers in Argyll & Bute and another for the National Galleries Scotland in partnership with the NSEAD.

Arts Practice
Lorna (she/her) works across many disciplines including animation, printmaking, paper cutting and illustration. She is currently working on several animation projects including a collaborative work with dance practitioner Una Shamaa and a short film responding to the voices of children as they talk about how they understand art.
